A SHORT WALK IN ST IVES

View from Clodgy Point on Scenic Trail

Cheriton House is ideally located for walking holidays in the South West of Cornwall. The St. Ives area has some of the most spectacular coastal scenery in Britain. The holiday flat is highly sought after by Ramblers and keen walkers, so remember to book early.

For those that are not so adventurous try the short walk to Clodgy Point. It is possible to walk to and from Clodgy Point via the coastal path, but for a pleasant alternative following a circular route. Allow up to one and a half hours walking at a leisurely pace.

From 3 Cheriton House self catering apartment proceed up to Barnoon car park above Porthmeor Beach. With Barnoon car park on your right walk along Clodgy View. (Clodgy Point is the far headland). Continue past the shops at Ayr along Ventnor Terrace, Wheal Ayr Terrace, Alexander Row, and then turn right in Burthallan Lane. This is marked as a cul-de-sac but do not let this deter you. Continue along Burthallan Lane, until it peters out into a footpath and follow the path down towards the coast until it joins the coastal footpath at Clodgy Point.

From Clodgy Point you will see a fine succession of headlands (see picture above), and a coastal path that stretches through superb unspoilt coastal scenery all the way to Lands End. Turn right at Clodgy Point and follow the coastal path back to town via Carrick Du and Porthmeor Beach.
