Porthmeor beach is St Ives' largest beach attracting families and surfers alike. Due to it being westerly facing it is very popular with surfers and body boarders and has a surf school operating all season with qualified instructors. Porthminster beach is the family beach. Retaining the 1930's feel, the beach has a putting green, and chalets and is well protected by the town and piers. A half-mile of golden sands with calm sea conditions. Very safe for bathing, sheltered from most winds.
